News and InformationFrom the Executive DirectorLast newsletter, we posted a survey of members and Impact Aid districts interested in partnering with the Rural Schools Association in a September conference. The conference is September 15-17, 2016 at Little America in Flagstaff, Az. The goal is to build a stronger presence of Arizona Impact Aid districts and to showcase the many educational achievements of our districts. Please visit to the ASIAA website and respond to the survey. We want to provide the Rural Schools Association with numbers to plan for the impact on the conference. The survey will close May 6, 2016. Please respond with a yes or no. Your attention is greatly appreciated.
I want to support NAFIS Executive Director Hillary Goldman in emphasizing her comments in the IMPACT (May-June 2016) regarding the need for unity and advocacy of Impact Aid. “As the Implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act moves forward with changes to the Impact Aid provisions, and with static budget caps and sequestration looming, we must double down on our commitment to each other and the students we serve.” Read more at this link. Yes, we must double down our advocacy efforts to break the budget caps by advocating for a $34 million increase in 8003 and advocating to eliminate sequestration. Now! We must keep a steady unrelenting pressure on the Arizona Delegation to become active in supporting our federally connected students. Thanks for your support. Larry E.
